Corcovado
National Park Guided Tour
|

|
Description:
The 54,539 hectare Corcovado National Park protects at
least 8 distinct habitats, making it the most unique and
best remaining Pacific coastal rainforest in Central
America! Wildlife is abundant and varied in the park and
it is home to Costa Rica's largest population of scarlet
macaws. Many important and endangered species are
protected here, including tapirs, 5 cat species,
crocodiles, peccaries, anteaters, sloths and monkeys. An
added attraction to Corcovado is that it is the only
park in Costa Rica that has long-distance hiking trails,
albeit primitive ones.
We
are proud to be able to offer you a short foray into
this beautiful, exotic environment. Leaving Bahia
Paraiso by boat, you will arrive at San Pedrillo where
you will walk on the beach for about 2 km to reach the
trail leading into the Park. The trail is primitive and
will take about 2-3 hours to complete. There will be
refreshment stops along the way as well as a picnic box
lunch before returning to the beach and the walk back to
the boat in San Pedrillo.
Please
note: This tour does require good physical condition as
the hiking is strenuous in a very hot and humid climate.
Comfortable, sturdy walking shoes are recommended, as
well as light clothing. Don't forget your insect
repellent, camera and binoculars.
This tour depends on weather conditions, as the entering
and getting out of the boats at San Pedrillo depends on
tides and swell. This tour will be cancelled at the last
moment if there is any reason to believe that the boat
transfer is not safe.
